Baby Looks Like Me!

Image
from www.seniorark.com Petite Pedia Plots 123 New parents are always curious who their baby will take after in the looks department.   I had this couple who were arguing about it.  Mom is pretty adamant that her little boy looks like her. At the end of the consult, I advised them that the baby might start losing hair within the next month.  Mom, then looks at the bald Dad, and says, "Well, when that happens, I'm pretty sure he's gonna look like you!"

Mom is Shrinking!

Mommy's Girl

Image
Daughter Duties 43 Back when I was in Grade School, I told my Mom that I needed Plaster of Paris for the next day (right before falling asleep). I didn't know how difficult it was to get it. She got pretty mad at me and I ended up crying. I was pretty much sure I'd get a failing grade for not bringing my assignment. When I woke up the next day, my Mom had the plaster of paris in her hand.    That pretty much sums  up how my Mom is. (And I think it's pretty applicable to all the mothers out there.) She always comes through and she never lets us down. She always believes that we could be better versions of ourselves. I hope that when the time comes for a reversal of roles, she can count on me and Ate to do the same for her and Dad.  I love you, Mom. I have always said that I'm a Daddy's girl, but what I don't often say is that I'm also a Mommy's girl.  Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, mothers-to-be, anticipating mothers and ...

Mom Makes Sense

Daughter Duties 33 As I parked on the street of Makati, the attendant came to collect my payment. My Mom then said, "Aba, akala ko libre kasi sa kalye lang naman ang parking." Photo from www.goodenoughmother.com

Remote Control

Image
Daughter Duties 32 I discovered this in my bag while I was visiting Mom this morning. Maybe I had plans of using the mute button on someone if needed?

Hala Ka, Daddy!

Petite Pedia Plots 100 "Dra, our baby stops crying only when it's Mommy who carries her", frustrated first-time Dad told me.  I answered, "Each baby is different. However, you have to remember that Moms are softer and well, they have breasts (and milk)." Dad looks at his chest and at his wife's and then says, " But there's not much difference. She's as flat as I am."  From Mom's looks, World War III just started at home.

Daughter Duties 25 My Mom was telling me that she wanted to eat something in particular. The name escaped her so she started to describe it.  Mom: " May meat and cheese yun eh."  Me: "Ah, lasagna?"  Mom: "Hindi!!!!" Me: "Spaghetti? Carbonara? Pasta ba?"  Mom: "Noooo! Crispy siya eh."  Me: I give up! 🤔 After about a day, I finally figured it out. It was nachos.  From www.faithrundsdeep.wordpress.com

Give Me My Change

Daughter Duties 22 My mom bought something worth P6999. She went to the cashier and gave the girl six hundred-peso bills. Cashier said, "Mam, kulang po ito." So she gave another hundred-peso bill at the same time saying, "Yung piso kong sukli ha." Kulang na nga, humihingi pa ng sukli!!!

Yung Ano.....

Image
Daughter Duties 21 My Mom said "Pakilagay naman ang ano dyan at yung isang ano doon". Incredibly, naintindihan ko naman yung ano.  😂 😂

So you don't forget!

Image
Daughter Duties 20 My Mom has this penchant for nagging, as do most mothers. :) So, she tells the same story to a relative to try to get her point across.  Relative answers her with "Alam ko na yan, Ate Enie. Nakwento mo na yan dati."  Mom replies, "Alam ko.  Pero inuulit ko lang para di mo makalimutan." 😖😜😁👊🏻 from www.clipartof.com

Mom's Pic

Image
Daughter Duties 18 This picture is what my Mom used for her first senior citizen card.  I think she was in her 30s when they took this picture.  Black and white/sepia tinged.  I remember the cashiers couldn't help but smile when they saw this. :)

Mom's Recommended Book

Daughter Duties 17 While walking inside National Bookstore, Mom singled out a book for me to buy. She was laughing hard while pointing to it. Its title? "Oh God, I'm still single!"  Nang-aasar ang Nanay ko. 😖😫😩

Exercise is futile

Image
Daughter Duties 16 My Mom strikes again! While exercising, my Mom saw me and said, "Very good, anak. Pagkatapos, kain ka madami ha!"  😅😳🏃🏼👟💦

Monkey-ing Around

Errands Gone Erroneous!

Image
Daughter Duties 12 My cute Mom told me that she "simply" wanted to go to SM. Translated, it meant passing by the following: (1) the houses of her amigas to give some mangoes away, (2) the old house to check on it, (3) the bank, (4) the other bank, (5) the drugstore for their medicines (and mine), (6) SM (finally!!! Not!) to do groceries and lastly, (7) the hospital to get a specimen cup for her urinalysis. The simple trip had turned into a 3-hour debacle. Hehe.

Type of Mistake Everyone Likes to Hear

Image
Petite Pedia Plots 57 This really made my day. While checking up on her newborn baby , this 29-yr old mom said she was very comfortable talking to me. I asked her why. She answered that we were on the same wavelength since we were probably the same age. When I told her my real age, she couldn't believe it. (And no, I'm  not gonna tell you what it is!)

You're Pretty.....

Petite Pedia Plots 52 Overheard this conversation among  a mother and her 2 sons: Mom: "So, how do i look?" Older son: "You're pretty, Mom." Naughty youngest son: "Yup, you're pretty..... Pretty chubby."

It's Mami, Mommy!

Image
Daughter Duties 11 My 78-yr old mom cooked for me dry instant noodles. She didn't put half of the seasoning and claimed it was really salty already. When I tasted it, it was indeed not kidney-friendly. When I read the package instructions, it was supposed to be a soup and not dry noodles. Hehe. No wonder it was very salty indeed! Mami sya dapat, Mommy! Hindi pancit!

Mom's Standard for Beauty

Daughter Duties 8 As my Dad and I were admiring the Porsche Cayenne running in front of us, my Mom commented, “Ang ganda naman. Ano yan Kia?” It’s scary what my Mom’s standards for beauty are.

Parents Love Pizza

Daughter Duties 7 My parents (both 78 years old) insist on eating pizza. And when i was ordering the vegetarian pizza for them, they instead wanted the one with bacon and ham. Haaaaay! Pasaway!
